Introducing…

Dan and his book

My friend and mentor, Dan Rhode, has published his first book. Dan has a rare gift. He is one of those people, like Richard Feynman or Lewis Thomas, who make difficult or obscure subjects approachable and fascinating. He instilled in me and many others an interest in materials and a sense of responsibility for how we, as potters, use them.

Dan lives in England now, and the book’s just about to be released in the UK. Hopefully it will be here in the States before long, but I’d encourage anyone to buy a copy online right away – I’ll have an update with details on where and how as soon as I find out.

Dan’s enthusiasm about pottery is contagious and he has so many fresh insights; his book is sure to be a great read. I can’t wait.

UPDATE – You can now order the book on Amazon.
